Biography
Salentine earned her Masters Degree from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art in her native Poland where she also received national awards for her paintings. The artist later moved to London, where she continued to develop her superb technique. Katherine now resides in the United States.
As a child, Salentine was encouraged to be a careful observer of nature and her study of the classic paintings are evident in her work. She frequently travels to the Louvre to sketch them, which has inspired her to recreate these timeless portraits by the Old Masters from their original sepia drawings. Her thirty-five years of experience allows her to approach this subject matter with the most innovative and delightful interpretation of adding exquisite jewels and brocade to each composition. To achieve such fine details, she uses oil and tempera and only the smallest brush obtainable.
Salentine’s work is in private collections in England, Poland, and in the United States.
